To make a marking on metals you can use different technologies, from punching machine to molds, from affixing labels to micropercussion. However, the method that has revolutionized the process is laser marking which, thanks to its countless advantages, has become the most used, most convenient, and professional method.

Advantages

The advantages of fiber laser marking are:

  • No contact;
  • High speed;
  • High quality;
  • Indelible markings;
  • Easy-to-use data matrix code;
  • Wide variety of marking materials;

We offer standard and customized solutions for laser marking.

Laser marking pre sandblasting process

The direct marking of die-cast components is a widespread request in the automotive industry to ensure complete traceability from the exit of the mold, during all subsequent processing phases, to assembly and then delivery to the end user.

Of course, the most common marking is the 2D DataMatrix ECC200 codes, for the characteristics that have made them so widespread at an industrial level:

  • High density of information contained;
  • Reading even with low contrast (20% is enough);
  • Read even in case of corruption up to 30% as it supports advanced control and correction algorithms of errors.

Reliability in traceability

LASIT has developed a strategy to prevent DataMatrix code from becoming unreadable after various processes.

This was possible thanks to deep incisions with specific parameters and dedicated geometries specially designed for die-cast components.

The most used lasers are those with high powers, i.e. 100W, 200W or 300W, which also guarantee an extreme speed of the process quality of the marked code.

Considering the tolerances that can be on the raw components, our Autofocus systems are always integrated as well as the vision system for Auto-centering and verification of the quality of the marked code.
